Long Hike - Mt. Tremont
On the weekend of 5/19/2016 our troop went for an 18 mile hike on the Sawyer Pond Trail and up Owl's Cliff in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. On Friday night we slept at a campsite about 1.25 miles in with beautiful views of Sawyer Pond. People slept in tents or in hammocks. In the morning, we were off to our second campsite, a 5-mile hike from where we were, with our full backpacks. It was a long but flat walk and the bugs made it feel longer. When we got to the camp site we called base camp, some of the boys dunked their heads in a nearby stream to cool off, and one even went swimming! There was no time to get comfortable though. We ate lunch and were off on a 6.4 mile hike up Owl's Cliff. There were beautiful views from the top. After the trip up and down the scouts thought that the trail was very steep and very muddy. After we got back to base camp, we stayed the night then walked the 6.5 miles back to the cars.
