Habitat For Humanity UMCW Breakfast
Doing service projects together is one way
that Boy Scouts keep their promise to help other people. Our charter
organization, United Methodist Church of Westford, asked Troop 95 to help with
a service project on Saturday January 31st. Troop 95 scouts and parents
prepared, cooked and served breakfast to about 25 volunteers who were
attending a Habitat for Humanity presentation at UMCW. The attendees were
interested in serving on a Habitat for Humanity local building project.
This was a great project for our scouts to work as a team and show our
appreciation to our charter organization who allows us to use their church hall
for meetings each week.
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build more houses.
